Colour Trends for your home in 2018

February 12, 2018AdelaidePremierPainterAdminPainters AdelaideNo comments

Every year new trends come out for everything, home paint colours are no exception. While hues and decorative trends tend to vary quite quickly, indiscriminate of whether we are talking about commercial or residential spaces, it is our job at Adelaide Premier Painters, as painting service providers to stay on top of industry trends so that we can provide our clients with the best advice for colour schemes in their property.

We have put together the top trends for 2018, so if you need a little inspiration, read on…

Carnival Red

Reds and crimsons have always been popular, as both interior and exterior colours. Carnival Red draws the eyes to certain points and can be used as a contrast to other colours such as blues and whites. Carnival Red is a particularly catching front door colour and works well as a splash of colour in living areas around the home. In a commercial space, you could try using it as an accent colour with light greys to really make it pop.

Black

Black is a polarising colour and you will either love it or hate it; but when used in the right way can make the room stand out. All-black rooms are becoming popular, creating a dramatic look. Black, is typically used as a background colour, we are tipping it to change and become a feature colour rather than used to make brighter colours pop.

Brass

Brass and brass like colours are trending across a swathe of industries and can be used as a decorative colour and very rarely as a main colour. Brass is one colour to be careful of as it comes off looking out of place or awkward, if not paired with the right colours.  It is generally safe to us greys and off whites to add a feeling of vintage luxe to any room.

Earl Grey

We don’t mean the tea, grey is a staple in interior design and can be used with most accent colours; especially the more vibrant hues. Making grey particularly versatile, it can be dressed up and suits almost everything you’re trying to achieve stylistically. Earl Grey colour can be a warm and cosy highlight to a bedroom as well when paired with rich browns.

Paradise Blue

What better way to create a relaxed room than using a hue like Paradise Blue. Create a relaxed, summer vibe by combining shades of light greens and dark blues. A plain white base colour adds an extra layer of crisp and clean to your room. Blues and greens are typically a wonderful hue for beachside homes.

If you’re planning on updating your property, these are some ideas to consider for your new colour palette. Repainting a home is a large undertaking and you should do more research and look at your styling before choosing your final palette.
